Step 1 - Get your Parature API Information

We'll need to use your API information to get access to data within Parature. An API (stands for Application Programming Interface) is a feature built into many modern day web applications. It provides a way for other applications and programs to gather data and perform actions with each other. Think of it as the language that two websites use to talk to one another. You can find all of this information under the "My Settings" section, within Parature - just click the link in the top right corner once you have logged into the service desk to get there.

  1. Make sure that the "API Access" permission is checked. If it is not checked, and you cannot change this permission, you will need to get in contact with your Parature admin, and possibly Parature, to get this feature turned on.
  2. At the bottom of the settings page, you'll find your API information. Make sure that the "Status" is valid. If it is not, you will need to generate a new token.

With this information in hand, we can move on to the next step.
